Welcome to the Palladium Books Megaverse to BESM conversion.

Whether you are a regular Third Deck Games gamer or just visiting, we hope you find this useful.

You might ask why anyone would do this (to themselves) and the answer comes down to this: the Megaverse is full of great ideas held back by its game system. Some ideas are cool, but impractical. Some are too practical too boring, Other ideas are outright cliche or and expy of something else. None of this addresses power creep or power balance.

To be fair, neither Megaverse or BESM are said with power balance in the same sentence unless it is part of a joke. BESM’s main advantage lies in better customization and quicker game mechanics. However, most Megaverse characters do not come close to capping out on levels of attributes.

Getting to the point, is when it is said and done, you now have a BESM character. Things will likely not work the same way as they do in the Megaverse.

A way to think about it is your character undergoes deconstruction and reconstruction. They are paired down to their core and rebuilt. First comes the stats, then the physical body, skills, and if their is anything left, their powers. Skills will not line up directly, but often a character can be more adept in BESM.

This could mean their magic doesn’t work and they have spend points to re-learn how to use magic. Their technology could be broken and they have to spend points to get it working again.

The bottom line is that this is not perfect, but the results should be a very playable character.
